Love Actually...

Ok so let's face it, Christmas is now officially less than a month away. I mean honestly, where the hell did the time go? It's the end of November already.

I suppose it's time to start thinking about buggering down and actually getting to decorating, and the Christmas cards, and oh yes, the shopping for gifts (i.e. not shopping for me).

But if nothing else, the Christmas season also brings the quirky holiday movies that we all love to cuddle up under a blanket and watch while putting off the aforementioned Christmas duties.

Obviously, the last few weeks have been crazy for me... the recent breakup and the possible change in jobs, have both lead me to thinking about what the hell is going on in my head, and what it is that my heart needs too. As you can imagine a breakup so close to the holidays, well frankly it sucks, but at the same time watching the holiday movies (yes I'll admit I've officially started doing just that today) is actually having a more positive effect on me than I imagined. Love Actually with Hugh Grant, Emma Thompson, and a cameo by Mr. Bean among others, is a wonderfully funny and charming British romance-comedy about a variety of different stories all with this 6 degrees of separation business. The funny thing is that earlier in the day I was thinking, "oh I should pop that movie into the DVD player" then while figuring out what there is to watch on this particular Sunday night, CBC was showing it- a sign indeed that I was meant to watch it today! Ok so yeah just go out and rent it it's worth it... so anyhoo, perhaps the fact that today was a complete write-off: full of naps, mixed in with some tidying-cleaning and a wonderful movie to put me in the Christmas spirit was exactly what I needed to put me into the Christmas spirit.

So some other favourite holiday movies I look forward to watching in the coming weeks:
1. How the Grinch stole Christmas
2. Christmas Eve on Sesame Street
3. The Muppet Christmas Carol
4. Miracle on 34th Street
5. A Very Brady Christmas

And what about the crazy holiday commercials? Like those M&M ads with Santa (which are actually quite violent- the plain m&m is mean to the peanut guy)...then there's the hershey kisses jingle commercials.... and the smack orange/chocolate things (which just actaully disgust me, cuz i can't stand the idea of mixing oranges and chocolate).

But really, now is the time to start thinking about Christmas... It's kinda funny the way things turn out and the timing of them all. I mean I am kinda glad I've had other things pre-occupy my time/thoughts/heart over the last few weeks, so that I didn't get annoyed with all of the hoopla commercialism of Christmas that starts earlier and earlier every year (I swear, I hate Christmas-speak prior to Hallowe'en).

So are you in the Christmas mood yet? If not, what will it take???
