what a weekend!

1. why don't they make smaller jars of pasta sauce? I don't need a big jar. they make various sizes of mayo and peanut butter and even cheez whiz, why not tomato sauce?

2. I think U2's next album will be coming out soon. And I think they'll go on tour. I know neither of these for sure. It's a gut feeling. Only because I heard them twice today. Once in the grocery store and once in Sears.

3. My foot is sore. I hate being a gimp. I walk slow enough with my stumpy legs on a good day, let alone when I have a limp. Not fun. Not in the summer when I should be playing softball and enjoying walking outdoors. Good thing I'm not DB'ing I wouldn't be able drive off my leg.

4. "abso-bloddy-lutely". What a great word. Not nearly as good as Mr. Big's "abso-f'ing-lutely" but great anyway!

5. Nao'r's on vacation. I'm not on vacation. Nuff said.

6. I want to travel- and I want to travel to Europe. mom's heading there for two weeks- leaving on Friday. I want to go so bad.... I'm so excited for her- she's never been and she's going to have a great time! I'm kinda jealous. A lot.

7. I'm going home this weekend to go see my munchkin be a baton twirler in a parade. She's so cute. I can't wait.

8. I'm getting O-town home-sick. I miss that place. I miss the peeps. One of my peeps Robin came to visit me this weekend for a girls weekend. We had a blast drinking wine, shopping on Quuen West, drinking sangria, eating greek food and drinking wine (notice a theme?). We had ana amazing time just walking and talking and lauging- well I was limping, but still, she was a good sport and agreed to rest a time or two. Funny though how it stopped hurting the second we spotted the sale signs. The weekend was so successful Robin even tried on some wedding dresses and I found my pirate weekend costume. SUCCESS indeed!

told you there was wine... On Danforth, Greektown

tired after a day of shopping- on our way home ...but we couldn't resist the view. perhaps we should
have tried a self portrait for this, and not the timer feature...

Thanks for a great weekend Rob- I miss ya tonnes.... xoxo

Ok folks- here it is- Post number 100. And I haven't hit the one-year mark. That's good. That's an average of one post every three and a half days... sorta...

So the topic for the 100th post? HHHMMM talk about pressure!!! Well I was going to go with random sleepless blogging theme so i think I'll stick with that.

1. It's not Hallowe'en yet. I know- seems like a pretty random but factual statement... what's my point you ask? If it's not Hallowe'en it sure as heck ain't Christmas! So guess what HBC company- it really isn't time for the Christmas decorations display in the overpass hallway over Rideay Street. It's too soon. I don't like it. and I. love. christmas.

2. Some people are mean. Some don't mean to be, some are just mean and like it. That's not cool.

3. I love this time of year- the temperature is just perfect. HOWEVER- my feet are only slowly adjusting to not wearing flipflops and being confined to shoes and socks.

4. Stress is exhausting- i know nothing new here- but holy ish peeps- I'm pooped these days... doesn't help that I did a 13 hour day at work tuesday and a 10 hour day today. Good times...

5. I love my friends.

6. Facebook is still cool. I love how it connects people and keeps people connected.

7. It kills me how small our world really is... 6 degrees of separation- I'm sure of it!

That's all I've got for ya kids...Sorry I couldn't be more entertaining on the 100th post... I would try to go to 100 but I'm exhausted...

holy it's been almost been a month!

Hello folks- well it's that time again for another edition of random sleepless blogging. Actually it's just more sleepless blogging, because for obvious reasons i suppose (i.e. i can't sleep)... it's 4:30 am, the alarm will be going off shortly and I feel the need to be awake... ok perhaps it will be a more random post than I envisioned 4 lines ago...

Yes yes faithful readers- I know, I know- it's been what, almost a month you say? Things have been quite hectic...oh wait have they? I mean I was on vacation for a bit of that... but admit it- you know as well as I do that vacations can be hectic too!

ok well first there was Canada Day- and Nic whisked me away for a surprise trip to Montreal for the weekend... we had such an amazing time. After taking tonnes of pics (which we all lost somehow) we headed back to Gan on Sunday for Canada day itself where we took the boat down to Kingston, had a yummy dinner then hopped back on the boat and headed into the harbour to watch the fireworks from there.

Then there was the trip out to New Brunswick with my bestest friend... so...much...fun. Clam digging, walking on the ocean floor, eating tonnes of seafood and having the best bilingual conversations I've ever had- I think I was an Acadian in a previous life. Seriously though- an awesome time...sleeping in everyday reminded me how much i love to sleep (as if I needed to be reminded).

Throw in softball Thursdays, Dragon Boat practices still Mondays and Wednesdays, weekends lazying around in the boat on the St. Lawrence with Nic, and you've pretty much got zero time left... oh right I suppose I do need to continue getting that pay cheque huh? right- work. Work's been ok as of late. My pal Alana deserted me for greener pastures-bittersweet really considering I now have her old office with windows looking onto the Market....hehehe no really i miss her...all and all I can't complain too much about the 9 to 5.

Oh dear lord the City Chase! I almost forgot!!! Robin and I were in the City Chase on July 21st and came in 111th out of 260 teams! Picture Ottawa's version of Amazing Race with a few twists (i.e. only travel by bus or foot, and you actually have to figure out the clues in order to know where you have to go)... We had 6 hours to complete 10 tasks around our nation's capital and we finished with 3 minutes to spare- considering only half of the teams completed ten tasks, we did darn good!

Mom and Bailey are coming up for the long weekend in august- which is just next week and I couldn't be happier. I can't wait to see them- and I'm very excited that they'll be meeting Nic. So far he's doing good in the approval ratings, but we'll see if he passes mom and Bailey's tests... (hehe I partly wrote that just to scare him)... if they love him even half as much as I do, we'll be in good shape...

why my weekend was great...

1. I didn't over-book myself
2. I did NOTHING friday night :)
3. I went to Dragon Boat practice with my new team Saturday morning
4. I got my hair done (yes again, and no I'm not blonde yet...but closer)
5. I got some great deals at Costco- like the chocolate covered sunflower seeds that are so yummy- (when i went to KC in january to visit Josh- his sister had them and that was the first time I've ever seen them. I loved them- they were so good, and ever sicne I've been looking at the bulk food sections at the grocery store, but to no avail.) I think i'll go back and stock up and freeze them or soemthing. they're so good- and perfect for trail mix!!!!
6. Went out with some friends on Saturday night- correction sprained ankle again on the way to the bar, so ended up going back home at 10:30
7. SLEPT IN!!!!
8. I got to see my family (aunt/uncle/cousins)- watch Logan play hockey and then we went out for dinner. I don't see them enough.
9. While playing around on Facebook, I found and reconnected with some long-lost friends, one of whom was my first love. This makes me very happy.

random recap

Ok so it's been a few days... ok so it's been a week... Needless to say, I've been a busy gal.

The ankle update: It's officially sprained.
I'm not off the crutches (edit- I am off. I was off last friday. I was not on them when I worte this post. Let's bame the fact that I was writing this at 2:30am for that error) . It still hurts like an SOB and of course everyone I talk too reminds me how much worse sprains can be than breaks. Thanks. So I started physio on it- which of course meant I had more time to spend with my crush. Well the crush is over. Yep it's official. While last Friday i totally loved him more- the foot massage did me in- I am now over him. Today's session not only physically hurt me (after one particular treatment i told him "for the love of God don't ever do that to me again" after he attached the muscle stimulator directly to a nerve in my leg. I swear I thought I was getting electrocuted). I'm still hurting. Right so my heart also broke- ok slight exaggeration here- I overheard someone ask him when his baby is due... DOH! damnit...another one bites the dust... let's just add him to the ongoing list of the unavailable/unattainable men in my life.

I've decided to attempt going to boxing tomorrow (i.e. later today- note time this entry was posted). Perhaps I'll be avoiding skipping on that ankle, but I should be good otherwise. I'm also thinking maybe I'll start swimming- thanks for the suggestion Dom... Whatever it is it's time to turn the Jello into HELLO! (credit for phrase to Mlle. Lisa Marie) as bikini season is fast approaching. Not to mention so to is Dragon Boat season- I can't wait to get to the pool Saturday for pool paddling practice with my new team!!!

Weekend recap: SUPER busy-
Friday night was AWESOME! Son and Tony were fantastic hosts to a bunch of us crazy gals and significant others (thanks to Sara's husband for not being able to make it, i didn't feel like a complete tool for not having a significant other to bring). Not that these girls make me feel bad for being the only single gal of the bunch- they don't they're awesome. I'm so lucky to work with such a great bunch of friends.

in pic:
Lisa, me (with bad hair day), Sonia, Jae, Sara and preggers Dal.

Saturday was St. Patty's day. I'm hesitantly admitting that this was the first time I actually partied/celebrated the occasion- not for lack of want... i just don't ever remember doing so. It certainly helped that it was on a Saturday- which allowed Hannah, me and company to start early- in line by 3:15pm and out till after midnight. So much fun (and green beer) was had. I was bummed I couldn't dance nearly as much as I wanted to given my ankle, but I managed to squeeze in a few dances in here and there. Luckily for me Hannah (and I) weren't so drunk that my ankle was not forgotten. I did sit for the most part... We finished off the evening with some karaoke at the scary internet cafe on Rideau street... I did my usual rendition of Brown Eyed Girl (and I think one of my best efforts to date) and before I left, Hannah made me do our usual duet of Summer lovin' (I play Sandy, she takes on Danny Zucco). Hannah rocks. I heart Hannah.
Sunday was Max's birthday brunch at the casino du lac leamy. Awesome brunch buffet on a hangover... not so awesome for someone with a sprained ankle. Damn this thing is ankle business is getting on my nerves... anyone feel like signing up to be my man-servant for the next while (send photo and resume to...just kidding- well sorta).

Dal's baby shower was in the afternoon- and again- so much fun. A few of us from the dinner at Son's on Friday made it, and again we had a blast. We all chipped in to get her the baby swing from her registry- hopefully the little princess will enjoy it and mommy can get some rest (or things done) while she's doing so. Dal's gonna be a yummy mummy don't ya think???

Work's been crazy. I worked over 12 hours Monday because of the Budget announcement. Woohoo. I love work. I had to miss Prison Break because of it. I love work.

Well that's it for the update for now... maybe I'll be able to sleep (doubtful, but one can only hope)

Sleepless crazy type

it's quarter-past 11 or 20 past, depending on what clock I look at while lying here, unable to sleep, in my usually comfy bed, with the light of my laptop screen making it impossible to see anything at all in my room, well except for the conflicting clocks of course. Right- conflicting clocks. As it stands now, one says 11:19 (the computer), the vcr clock says 11:21 and the beloved alarm clock says 11:23. The alarm clock used to be alot quicker than all others. 9 minutes to be precise, since the snooze button is precisely 9 minutes, and I'm pretty dumb first thing in the morning (with only mild progress throughout the day), so by setting the alarm clock 9 minutes fast, i'm tricking myself (and falling for it) every morning. I got out of that habit when I was with my ex- he hated the snooze button. why the hell haven't set the clock back to my time??? If I wasn't so damn cozy and warm under my duvet (and if the laptop wasn't, well on my lap) then I'd get right up and do it. But alas, I'll wait till I wake up. Which I'll probably forget to do in the aforementioned dumbness of the morning.

So by now, if you're still reading and aren't in the middle of calling or emailing me to see if I've actually gone off the deepend, you've realized the type of posting this is. In fact, it's prompting me to have a label for all postings of this nature: Random sleepless blogging-kinda the same effect of drunken dialing but i don't anticipate it to be nearly as humiliating.

Random thoughts as I can't shut my brain off to sleep mode:

I love my friend Meaghan. I've known her for 20 years. Isn't that INSANE? Good gracious, I'm only 27! There are a few friends of mine, sisters really who we've been friends for 20 years. Yep, since I started at good ole St. Michel in Leamington, back in grade 3. Meaghan has a brother named Logan and had a dog named Duchess. She lived just down the street from school. The lady who used to watch her was named Lois. Meaghan sent me a card, and I received it today. At first, I didn't recognize the return adress, but then something inside me thought of Meaghan. Unfortunately, I've been sorta distant from my life back home- well really i've been sorta distant here too, I can't remember the last time I actually spoke to Megs- I think it was Christmas 2005, but that saddens me to think it's true. She sent me a card, stating just that, that it has been a long while, but that I've been on her mind. Maybe she's reading my blog and has noticed the pity-party-blogging I've been doing. Regardless, I don't think she'll ever know how much opening that card and seeing those words, imagining her voice saying them and feeling the hugs she sent me actually meant to me. It meant the world. I'm so fortunate to have beautiful people in my life.

Next random thought. today was international food day. Lisa signed the two of us up for Southern USA food- which we then continuously had to explain that no, neither of us were from Louisiana although the fact that we called our "kiosk" Southern Belles' Mardi Gras didn't help the case. Nor did the fact that we made THE MOST DELICIOUS CHICKEN & SAUSAGE JAMBALAYA, BISCUITS AND BREADY PUDDING WITH RUMBALAYA SAUCE ever!!!!! The beads and feathered boa also added to the flare of the fair! I was at Lisa's until 11pm last night cooking. We had great chats while making enough food for a small army of public servants. We learned more things about one another. Lisa is one of my favourite people on this planet. I heart Lisa (and Atlas).

My nose is cold because the fan is blowing right on it. My feet are sweating because of my duvet. I hate that. I turn into this human radiator when i sleep. BUT I need to have a duvet- it really is my comfort blanket...it's such a catch 22 every night.
I'm worried that the 3-week early daylight savings time thing is gonna screw up with my outlook calendar at precisely the most inopportune time of the year. Fisc year end in my world sux. I'm already booked EVERY day the third week of March. And it aint' for fun, it's all for work.
I love the colour green.
I love hearing people laugh.
I hope that typing all the things going through my head during this sleepless time right now will help alleviate the pressure and help my eyes drift away to blissful REM.
Did I lock my car?
Who schedules meetings on a friday?
Is it patio season time yet?
Will I get to go see a Sens game this season (offers welcome here folks...)
Was the receptionsist at my physiotherapy place right>? Will this be a good year for capricorns?
Do my friends know that I love them and truly do think about them every day and the reason why i haven't contacted them is jsut that my life feels so disorganized lately>
Does my boss really read my blog?

It's now 11:45/47/48. Has my mind rid itself of enough toxins to finally relax? Or did God really just plan on me having dark circles under my eyes every morning this week? (I'm quite sure he's got bigger plans for me than just dark circles)
Do I annoy people by talking too much? too loudly? too bluntly?

Second yawn in 4 minutes....i think we're getting somewhere... oh wait and another only 23 seconds later. Time to fix the format, check the spelling and post this puppy. After all- you all remember what happens to Cinderella when the clock strikes 12...and well lets face it, this princess desperately needs her beauty sleep.

I told you they were random thoughts... in quickly scanning them over, I can actually remember the logic why i was thinking those very things... my mind- she moves in mysterious ways
