... it just doesn't have the same feeling as "here I made you a mixed-tape" now does it? even a mixed cd... but really nothing will beat the era that was the mixed-tape mastering to show someone how you really felt. A guy made me a mixed-tape once. I was 12. He gave it to me before I went away on my summer vacation. I remember there was at least one Richard Marx song on it.
Creating a playlist is something of the same thing... selecting songs in a particular order that reflect emotions, thoughts, your general state of mind for a particular time. A playlist for working out, one for falling asleep, a soulfull one, an uplifting one, and kick-ass one (holla Player's Club)...
But I take my playlists seriously, and pretty personally- but would i want to share them? maybe. In the same way as I would have shared a mixed tape? (presuming I have someone to share it with), I don't know about that. Besides, there's something to be said for physically pressing play/record, adding enough time between the songs, etc, of the mixed tape, then of a playlist that can be sorted and shuffled on a whim.
I've recently made a playlist (sadly i'm having comp difficulties, so can't sync it to the ipod at the moment)... It's an amazing playlist. but I don't want to share it yet... I'm too affraid it would open a window to my soul that I don't think I'm ready to open just yet...
